Lib Dems Top Young People Poll5.31.08pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 22nd Jul 2005
The Liberal Democrats were voted the most popular party amongst members of Birmingham's Young People's Parliament after LDYS Vice Chair Adam Teladia spoke to them. The Young People's Parliament, based at Millennium Point in Birmingham, allows 11 to 14 year olds from around the area to discuss important issues. Adam Teladia, 22, spoke to the young audience and then answered questions on a range of issues. At the end of the debate the audience used the YPP's electronic voting system to vote for the party they supported. The Liberal Democrats topped the poll. Responding to the result, Adam Teladia said: "I am very pleased that the Liberal Democrats won the support of the young people. It goes to show that the Liberal Democrats are the first choice for young people and that they agree with our policies such as votes for sixteen year olds." "I was very impressed by the quality of the questions asked. The Young People's Parliament is a great place for young people to get involved in politics."
