Paul Keetch MP Gets Creative with St James Primary School

8.28.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 18th Jun 2008

St James Primary School is one of many Herefordshire schools taking part in Send My Friend '08 to help put pressure on world leaders to speed up their efforts to provide a primary education for all by 2015. There are still 72 million children missing an education, with many millions more forced to drop out of school before they can complete even a primary education.

The MP visited the school and, after taking part in morning assembly, got creative with pupils who filmed messages to world leaders about ending the global education crisis. They pupils asked Paul Keetch to contribute towards the film and outlined to him what they and he could personally do to help reach the education for all children target.

Commenting on his visit, Paul Keetch MP said, "It is brilliant that the children at St James school are passionate and motivated about this campaign. Their involvement and that of other children like them and the pressure they can bring to bear on Government will help raise awareness that education is a human right and the quickest way out of poverty.

Schools are invited to join in the Send My Friend '08 action. For more details and FREE 'Send My Friend '08' packs visit www.sendmyfriend.org or call ActionAid on 01460 238000.
