Policy in the West Midlands

My name is Phil Bennion, and I am the elected Regional Policy Officer of West Midlands Liberal Democrats for 2006. Together with the Regional Policy Committee, which I chair, I have the following main responsibilities:

• To encourage members to participate in federal, regional and local policy making.

• To help members and councillors to produce manifestos for local elections.

• To prepare regional Consultation Papers and Policy Papers for debate at Regional Conference.

The Regional Executive Committee may also direct my committee to prepare, on behalf of the region: (a) policy motions to Federal Conference, (b) submissions to Policy Working Groups set up by the Federal Policy Committee, (c) a regional manifesto.
